The village of Herne
Our region is a paradise for everyone who loves walking and cycling. Topographical maps and leaflets on this beautiful region of the Pajottenland are at your disposal.
The train station
Wisteria is only 500m away from the train station. We can come and pick you up there if you want.
Centre of Herne
At 500m of Wisteria, there's a butcher, a baker, a bank, a restaurant and a little supermarket.
Interesting monuments that are close by:
- Herne has a wonderfull church. The construction of it goes back to the 11th century
- The first "kartuizer" monastery of the Netherlands has been founded in this village. You can still see the following remains: the entrance door (1710), the garner and some seperate buildings.
- The "Stomme kapel" (a chapel)
- The chapel of the "zeven weeën" (seven contractions)
- Water mills: Boesmolen, Waldetrudismolen, etc.
... and our village is known above all for its annual market on Pentecost Monday. This market attracts thousands of people every year coming from every corner of our region.
The same goes for another event, namely the "Kriek-en Mattentochten" and consists of a beautiful walk in our village.
